Packing Like a Pro

Faced with the piles of clothes strewn about my room that I had deemed necessary, I thought to myself, there must be a better way to pack all this crap efficiently.

And there is!  Rolling and/or bundling.  A simple google search yielded hundreds of articles and videos.  I was skeptical at first...like really, rolling is going to save space and wrinkles, you gotta be...holy crap, it worked!  While listening to New Order, I rolled all my clothes and then lined them into neat little rows and columns, and I still filled only 3/4 of my luggage.  Wowza!  And the total weight was just a few pounds over 50!

Now - I could have stopped there, but I was curious about this whole bundling business, especially since I had seen it a few times on Downton Abbey.  What is bundling?  Bundling is a way of layering and wrapping your clothes around a core object as to minimize wrinkles and maximize space...duh, clearly!  Yeah... I had to google some diagrams and videos on this one.  Like so:

Clear?  umm..no.

Real Simple also had some great tutorials.
Bundling was more time-consuming, but it worked nicely with my professional clothes and those that wrinkle easily.  And seeing those tight little cubes of clothing made me ridiculously happy....and oddly, got me feenin' to play some tetris or Q*bert.

The process of rolling and bundling also forced to repeatedly evaluate my packing choices...yes, this is a cute dress, but I don't need it in two colors...no, I don't need every rock band shirt since I rocked a mullet to Bon Jovi.  I will probably review my choices again tomorrow.

In the end, I will probably use both techniques.  And I will post the glorious result later.

Other than this experiment, I devoted some of my day to running little errands around time and spending some park time with my dog, who I am going to miss terribly!  He is too old, otherwise I would take him with me.
